Re: Parallel throw.
As a means of cheapening production costs, many drum companies have discontinued parallel throw types.
Fibes ,Ludwig ,Yamaha ,Pearl and Tama all had those types of throws at one point or another.
Unfortunately a lot of those throws were finicky and poorly designed.
Pearl(Jupiter) ,Tama(Kingbeat) and Yamaha(SD065MD) were over engineered messes back in the 70's and 80's.
Not many main stream snares require a high degree of articulation with today's musical direction,so they have now become few and far between.
They are now found mainly on concert and marching snares, where a high degree of articulation is favored over the crack boing in a lot of today's musical styles.
Those of us with those types of chops highly prize those throws.
My fave is the Fibes SFT 690.
Pretty simple to use and maintain.
Older Pearl free floaters and the Ludwig Super Sensitive were nice too.
