Default Santa (UPS guy) Came buy again!!! (pics)

So, today, I had a few more cymbals show up, thanks to the wonderful UPS guy. :-)

These are a few of the many Paistes I have ordered, to add to my already vast collection.
Im totally addicted to Paiste cymbals. I can help it! LOL.

    Anyway...

    They are:
    2002 19" Power crash. ( brand new)
2002 17" Rock crash. (brand new)
2002 18" Rock china. (brand new)

The other "non 2002" cymbals in the pic, are a

    19" Signature power crash.
    18" Dimensions med/heavy crash.

So... as much as I know about Paiste cymbals... I did not know that the rock china has one side that is shinny, and one side that is flat with shinny hammer marks. Its cool!

So, my 2002 set up for 2008 is almost complete.
    It will be:

    17" 2002 rock crash.
    14" 2002 heavy hi-hats.
    10" 2002 wild splash.
    18" 2002 rock crash.
    19" 2002 power crash.
    20" 2002 power bell ride.
    18" 2002 rock china.
    18" 2002 power crash.

I'd really like some more Paistes, but I'm really short on cash right now, and I haven't played a wide variety of them to know how they are. Can anyone tell me how they would sound in a hard rock band?
    It's a classic.

Well... I play in a hard rock band....
They are perfect for hard rock. I cant compare Paistes to Sabian or Zildjian, because I have played very few of there products.
On the other hand... I have played almost everything Paiste has made in the past 15 years, and I will say that 2002's and the Dimesions "power" series are my favorites. Since the Dimensions are discontinued, 2002's were the way for me to go.

Besides... if theyre good enough for John Henry Bonham, theyre good enough for me. :-)

    Typically they are heavier.
For whatever reason, the "rock" series has lots of cool hammer marks, whereas the "power" series has smooth lathing lines.

The power series is higher in pitch than the rock series and they are both higher in pitch than the "regular" series.

32nd, the reflectors are getting harder to find by the day, my friend.

Vegas, did you buy those over the Internet without hearing them first? If you did, have you ever gotten one that you were not pleased with? I have a hard time considering buying cymbals over the internet because someone else is picking out my cymbals and it makes me nervous. There is variations in all cymbals just by the nature of metalurgy. (sp) So I was just wondering how is all turned out for you?

Yeah... I bought them without hearing them. This never really concerns me. I have never found a Paiste that I did not like the sound off. Mostly because I have heard the same model somewhere else, and new what to expect.

This is not to say that I like the sound of ALL Paistes... I just know what to expect from certain models and have yet to be dissapointed.

I will say I had never met a "rock" china in person before my purchase... but Im not at all unhappy with it. It sounds really cool.

Interesting... what kind has a lower pitch than normal, say to balance them?

In the 2002 series, the regular cymbals seem to have the lowest pitch...
The "Twenty" series seem to to me to be a pretty low pitch.

The "dark" series stuff, in the signature line are as you would expect, dark (low) pitched.

The "mellow" line is also kinda low pitch as well... although I think they have been discontinued.

For me, having now decided to add another crash to my 2002 set up... The balance is between two power series, of differing sizes, and two rock series of differing sizes.

Very nice Vegas. I have posted a question on the "cymbals" section in the forum. Since you got plenty of Paiste experience, I think you would have some good feedback and advice for me. Please check it out if you can...thanks.
