Hey guys, are there any drummers you enjoy listening to that may not be considered good amongst the drum community? I dont mean they are bad drummers, just not recognized as very good.
I like some of Phil Rudds drumming. He is a classic example of only playing for the song.
I also like steven adlers playing on appetite for destruction, very simple but it sounds cool.
Any of you guys have your own examples?

Six Piece Mapex Saturn V, Five Piece DW Performance Series, NOS Slingerland Snares, Centent Ardor and Emperor Cymbals
Ringo Starr and Keith Moon come to mind.
Watching Gene Krupa and Papa Jo Jones also makes me cringe at some of their techniques.
Technique is not necessarily a be all end all.
Al DeMeola once said that despite his blazing technique ,he would kill for that something that Pete Townsend has when it comes to playing guitar.
Same applies to drummers.
