Default A little kick drum tuning

I did some tuning on my Mapex Armory 22 inch kick drum. It has a nice, fat sound to it now (headphones or earbuds are recommended). The batter head is loose, the resonate head is a little tighter to give it some tone. I'm using the smaller foam ring from the EMAD heads for muffling.

Looks like you need a more solid pedal?
Does that thing shake as much as it looks from the video?

Bass drum sounds good! I love my Emads! Got them on several kits.

I didn't have the pedal tight due to tweaking the drum. I'm still going to do a little more work. I think I have the resonate turned a little too high.

I did a little more work to it. I came off of the resonate head about a half a turn, then put about a quarter turn into the batter head. I also put the larger foam ring in for more muffling.

Sounds better from the batter side, from the reso side it has a slight metallic sound kind of like a basketball. I do not know how else to explain it, Something I always try to avoid in my kick drums.

I'm going to get the Evan's drum pillow out of my other kick drum and see how it sounds in this new one

I know exactly what you’re talking about. Sounds like tennis ball.
