    Default Interesting evening

I got a call a few days ago out of the blue from a guy needing a drummer. He has a Southern Rock/Country band, and has played professionally for country singers Wade Hayes, Vern Gosden, and Justin Moore.

I went to his place tonight, which is a nice studio with an extra room on the back where the band practices. They had a Ludwig kit set up with Zildjian cymbals, so I didnt have to lug my gear.

Anyways, we jammed for a few hours, and they extended an invitation to join the band. They have some casino gigs coming up that pay well, so I'm definitely intrigued by the offer.

I am going to discuss it with my wife first before making a commitment, but these guys seem pretty serious.

Sounds like a good opportunity to play with some good musicians, on good gigs, and make some ca$h at the same time. Hard to turn down (as long as their good guys). They look older, so I’d guess they’ll be easy to get along with and fairly drama-free.

How’s the church thing coming along?

They are older, for sure. Theres a guy in his 40's, other than that I'm the pup of the group (if I decide to play for them).

The church thing is good. No luck finding enough people willing to commit to a band outside of the praise and worship band for services, but we will see how things go.

Wife and I discussed it this morning and I'm going to give it a shot. I've got a buddy playing lead guitar for them so that makes it easier.

Well, so much for that. A new guitarist and I have attended a few practices and were the only ones who practiced and knew the songs on the list.

No one wants to return calls or texts messages and when we have practiced they were more concerned with drinking beer and shooting the bull rather than actually playing. (They didnt know the songs once we got them to try, and they provided the song list.)

They may get it together, but I don't have enough confidence in them to move forward and neither does the guitar player.
