    Default Cool gig tonight

I'll be playing a gig with several musicians this evening, to include Jim Turner, who played lead guitar for Lou Rawls and Chuck Berry.

I've never met him, but I've earned a reputation as a solid blues drummer in my area, and got a call late last night to be the time keeper of the evening.

I have played with two other guitarists who are playing, so I have an idea of what I'm getting myself into.

    Did you have fun?

Will you be hitting the road soon?

I can go on forever, you know...

It was a blast. My first live gig in a few months, so I was excited about it.

We had a good turnout and though I was brought in as a "fill in" drummer the other musicians said I was as solid, if not better, as the regular guy and they want me to come back.

One guitarist on stage invited me to play gigs with him and his band, so it was worth going to.

What kind of place was that? It looks like center of a mall or something? Is it a casino?

Based on the pics, it looks like the acoustics could be problematic....tons of hard surfaces, glass windows, odd angles and wide open space with no people up close to absorb much sound. How’d it work?

    Play the SONG......not the DRUMS!!!

"I think that feeling is a lot more important than technique. It's all very well doing a triple paradiddle - but who's going to know you've done it? If you play technically you sound like everybody else. It's being original that counts." ~ John Bonham

It was in the cafe court of a mall. There were 25 or so tables with the first row about 10 foot off of the stage. There is a wall in the back, and the sound was better than I expected. We had about 120 people in the "open" area with around another 75 or so inside of the actual restaurant and at the bar.
