I've followed Bobby now and again over the years but I'm really liking his stuff with The Lizards these days.
He definitely has a unique style about him. I love his improv solo during this song ...
Forgive me if this has been discussed before but i really like Bobby Rondinelli’s drumming, especially with Rainbow. He has such a cool style.
Anyway, some interesting info i recently came across. Bobby Rondinelli was the actual drummer on the Scorpions “ love at first sting” album. Herman Rarebell was credited but it was Bobby on the drums as well as a different bass player. One thing though, the song “ rock you like a hurricane” sounds remarkably like Rarebell not Rondinelli. Thoughts?

I have met Bobby several times as I have played with both of my bands at an open mic he hosts in my town. He's a friendly guy, good sense of humor, and obviously a monster player.

I saw him again last night. I went with my bandmate who gave him some of his company's drum mics to try. He was very appreciative and talked to my bandmate at length about what he needs and looks for in drum mics.

If you see him again, ask him about recording the scorpions album.
Bobby was at my gig last night. There was a high school reunion happy hour at the bar we played that afternoon, and the organizer asked us to start the gig earlier so their people could catch it. I assume Bobby was there for the reunion. The funny thing is, I saw that here was there, and as I was setting up a woman came up to me and said, "You're with the band? My boyfriend is a drummer, he's played with Black Sabbath..." I said, yeah I know Bobby! She said "come say hi", and I did. He didn't stay much longer but he did watch me sound check my drums.

I like it when these kind of guys get some recognition. Not trying to hi-jack the thread but another guy I thought of is Peter Bitelli from RIOT. I know there's some here that know RIOT but if you don't just listen to the Rock City or Narita albums. They were a great band out of New York. I was turned on from a guitar player friend in high school. He showed me Road Racing on his guitar. Went out and got the Narita record. It has such a cool sound.
Have never heard another record sound anything like that one. Possibly the first Fastway from 1983 is kind of close.
Here's an in depth interview with Peter himself
