Default Yamaha is taking over my life....no complaints, however

Ugh. I hate that l love to shop. I hate that I love to buy when I shop. I hate that I was the only bidder on a super cool drum kit. But when it shows up.....

Anyway, to whet your taste buds, here's a little teaser.

Found a super deal on ebay for a 7 pc Yamaha Beech Custom in a really nice blue finish. It was one of 3 kits that were all very similar in sizes and high end quality. (whatever that means)

So I thought WTH, I'll put a bid on the least expensive one. That will usually bring the bidders and auto bidders out so I can see what I'm up against.

Long story short that was a few days ago. I never gave it another thought.

Yesterday I had a 15 minute idle window and for some reason jumped on to gaze at my watched list on ebay and lo and behold that drumset showed up in my summary with 20 minutes to go and no other bids.

So I lolligagged around for the remainder of the time and no other bids came in. Either I got super lucky or over paid. I can't find much information on a kit that size but I think I did alright. Regardless, if is looks anything like the pictures, I'm going to be over the top happy.

    Here's the description....
    Yamaha Beech Custom Absolute
    10, 12, 13, Rack Toms
16, 18, Floor Toms with legs
    22 Kick Drum
    14 x 6 Snare
    Double Tom Holder with stand.
    Triple Clamp for kick mount.
    3 tom holders.
These Drums have had the best in care. Always bagged and moved in hard flight cases.
Some slight wear on one tom from snare rim. No issues with finish just some slight dings. Never visible when set up. I am just pointing this out, but, this is really the only thing that the kit has for wear.
This Kit sounds amazing live, miced up or not. Also records well with nice solid rich tones. Has been a great working kit. I hate to sell it, but need room for new project.
If you are looking for a pro kit to use for studio or stage, this one will do both.

If you have never had Beech before your going to love it. I had a Sonor Beech and that is the only kit I ever regret selling. I have seen a few of those Ymaha kits sell locally here, one was nice yellow one that went for $600 and the other was a Green one for $900, not sure what you paid for that one but I have heard they are great kits although I have never heard one in person. Love those lugs btw
    Ludwig Classic Maple 22x16,10x8,12x9,16x16

    Sabian HHX Legacy

Decide whether this is love for the craft or simply an ego thing

7 piece Yamaha for 7 piece Yamaha. I suppose that there is a logic in there that somehow escapes me.

Son of a beech, I hate it when that happens.

My personal opinion; anything built by Yamaha is solid quality...even their low-end stuff. I have Yamaha guitars (acoustic and bass), surround-sound home theatre, keyboards, trumpet, 20-channel mixer board and powered PA mains. The only thing I don’t have is Yamaha drums...unless you count my Premiers which were made during Yamaha ownership.

I was still working in MI sales when the Beech Customs were first introduced. They had three putrid colors available, the aforementioned yellow and green and some other that I can't remember. A customer of mine fell in love with the green ones and bought a nine-piece double bass drum kit. Then he returned a few months later and bought an identical set in the yellow color for his church.

At that time I was playing a new Recording Custom kit, and I thought the Beech sounded every bit as good as the RCs, with the Beech bass drum sounding even better. They are a pro-level, top-quality kit from top to bottom. Congrats on the purchase, and the COLOR! You will love them.

Interesting combo. I've thought about that myself since I have both.

I electronically spoke to the seller and he's going to ship them "hopefully" today. He was waiting on large boxes for the bass drum and FT. I'm trying to be patient. Egads!!!

Never knew Yamaha made beech, that's really cool. I dig the color too, very Stewart Copeland. Have some fun with those for sure.

Thank you. Me, too. I have this uncanny weakness for Blue drums. Well red drums, too. Hmmm. I like Glitters and sparkles and large flake finishes. Then there's always bursts. Yep, pretty much anything, truth be told.
