I need to vent a little....
So I purchase one of these 8TB external HD's to have plenty of storage.
I plug it in and the driver device software says it failed to fully install.
I open up diskmgmt to alocate the drive. It shows only 74.50GB capacity!
    ughh!!!!

I've had good luck with Seagate external hard drives. I own two of their 4TD HD have one on my PS4 Pro and one on my Xbox One X , no problems with either one.

Thanks NPYYZ. I have owned Seagate products before but Western Digital has never let me down until this particular item. I will get a refund or hopefully an easy exchange. This one was a lemon showing about 100 times less storage than it should be!

Have you tried reloading the driver software?

Sometimes they are finicky on the installation order. You know, like sometimes they want the installation disk first and then sometimes about 2 hours into the 15 minute install it asks for you to plug in the drive....you know. The usual Windoze process.

    Which OS?

You may need to update firmware and drivers.
    Here's a utility to try.

Thanks all. The drivers are automatically downloaded when it's plugged in to the computer. I had purchased it online. It's been returned at a local store, they tried it, it didn't work, got a refund. I wanted to exchange it but they didn't have another 8TB in the store.
I do need to purchase another because I need one for the storage.
Now I have things on different drives but it'd be nice to have all on one.
