As many of you already know, my cover band was selected to be the opening act for RATT at our State Fair next month.
We play local clubs and private gigs for corporations, so we have a lot of dance music on our song-list, but for this gig we pulled out the heavier stuff.
We play a short 45-minute set.............what follows is the first draft of what we think might go over well; all praise/criticism/comments are welcome..................
The Song Remains The Same
Machinehead
Portrait
Never Been Any Reason
The Big Medley
Learn To Fly
Dancing Madly Backwards
Tie Your Mother Down
Gretsch USA & Zildjian(What Else Would I Ever Need ?)

Great set list, now go rock their faces off!
Love that song list, Rick. Hope to get to see you at RiverFest.
My last band played "Never Been Any Reason" and it was always popular with the audiences. But I absolutely hate that song, and especially hate the drum parts. It's easy to play, yes, but the drum parts are just so mundane, predictable, and repetitive that I often spent a good part of the gig just waiting for that song to be called. Remember thinking, "Oh, well, here we go again." I don't think that I ever played the song badly, but I can certainly recall "playing while bored!"

Great set list! We play Tie Your Mother Down, usually as either an opener or closer, and it always goes over well.

Thanks Bish; will do.
Thank you, TS.
You can be certain.
Thanks, GDM.
NBAR is always a crowd favorite -- we try to "heavy it up" a little bit.
Another crowd favorite -- and yes, we have noticed it always works as an opener or closer.
But we wanted to open with the Zepp song because it is a real attention getter..............nobody expects it.
It is a recent addition to our list and it is so much fun to play !
