    Default Any Historic Concerts ?

    I saw CREAM during their 'farewell" tour in October, 1968;
    One month later I saw the Jeff Beck Group play at a venue on the SMU campus -- we had never heard of his new lead singer, some guy named Rod Stewart;
    In May of 1970, I saw Jimi Hendrix play the Will Rogers Auditorium in Ft. Worth.........................four months later he was dead;
    Also in both 1970 and in 1971, I got to see Led Zepp perform live.................somewhat awesome nights;
    I saw the very first gig that YES played with new drummer Alan White -- July, 1972, Dallas Memorial Auditorium;
    I was blessed to witness Gentle Giant play the Electric Ballroom in March 1977 -- I was in music school at that time and to see this band then was a magical experience.
    I'm sure there were others -- I can't recall.

    I've only been to a few of what might be considered historic concerts:
    The Clash at Bond's International Casino in NYC, where the fire department raided the first show, told them it had been oversold by twice the venue's capacity, and the Clash ended up extending their run to double the original number of shows to ensure that all ticket holders could attend.
    The Who at Shea Stadium with The Clash opening.
    The Amnesty International Concert at Giants Stadium in 1986, featuring a Police reunion plus U2 and many other top acts.

    I saw Janis Joplin before I went overseas in '67. Total raw emotion. Was at Shea stadium for the Who concert (thanks to our management. The got us tickets after it was sold out) Fleetwood Mac at MSQ in '77 for the Rumours tour. There were quite a few others, Black Sabbath, Heart, Aerosmith, Saga (opening for Jethro Tull around '82-'83).

    Could have seen Hendrix but had absolutely no interest in that.

    Roxette, Tina Turner, Cher at (I believe at the MGM Grand). Patty Loveless when Jealous Bone came out. She was gorgeous back then. Led Zep twice. Once about '75 and somewhere around '79-'80 when Bonham was on his way down. A shameful waste of talent.

    Could have seen more but the timing didn't play out right.

    Left out The James Gang. We used to do Tend My Garden. Nothing like a B-3 with a Leslie.

    Thanksgiving 1971. The late show at the Academy of Music, NYC. Procol Harum was the headliner. King Crimson was the second act. Yes opened the show. A top ten concert for sure. Six months later, Yes was headlining.

    Saw the eagles on their last big tour before Glenn Frey passed. Also ac/dc’s rock or bust with Brian Johnson which I think was their last tour. Not really historical concerts but i’m Glad I saw them before they were done. I missed R40 which still bothers me to this day.
