    in this case.. we would need to see the picture[s], you may not be able to post pictures yet . Yamaha drums are good drums though.. even the less expensive models. What country are you in?

    The part numbers for individual Yamaha drums started with “TT” for tom-tom or “BD” for bass drum, followed by the series and I believe the size. So....
    BD= Bass Drum
    5= 5000 series
    22= 22” diameter

    I’m guessing that’s what you’re saying was wrote on the badge.
    The 5000 series was their entry level kit made from Luan wood. Good drums...as was/is anything Yamaha, but not particularly special. They would be equivalent to Tama Rockstars or Pearl Exports.

    Play the SONG......not the DRUMS!!!

    "I think that feeling is a lot more important than technique. It's all very well doing a triple paradiddle - but who's going to know you've done it? If you play technically you sound like everybody else. It's being original that counts." ~ John Bonham

    I played on a 5000 series Yamaha kit that was Made In Japan (MIJ) when I started recording tracks at my friends home recording studio 9 years ago. It's a pretty decent kit but you are correct as being Yamaha's entry level offering. Thanks for clearing up how to read the serial number. Great info!
