    I would encourage you to move the crack out from under the lug. That is placing the most stress on the weak point.

    Wood glue is no joke... I feel that new joint is going to be stronger than some other points in the hoop.
    Think about a stave snare drum shell.. that's all just wood glued together and I've seen people jump on a stave shell and not break them vs a plied snare.

    Plus, this is the resonant head so I'm not putting a lot of pressure on it as I'm not tightening it down much.
