    Default Starphonic Copper Snare

A couple weeks ago I traded a pile of stuff I wasn't using for a Starphonic Copper snare. Thing's a monster. I was wondering if any one here has one and any thoughts you might have on it.

you know... I'm a bit jealous
I have over 50 snares in my possession but I have no copper snares.
Several brass but no copper. And I hear lots of awesome things about copper snares.

I have a Yamaha copper in 5.5x14. It's very bright and brash sounding to me. I changed the wires once I got it but need to try other heads i think. I want it to warm up a little bit.

I was on the fence trying to decide between the copper or the bronze shell when I ordered my USA series snare.
I decided on the bronze................which I really love.
I did find an analysis that suggested the brass shell would be the sharpest and loudest of the three varieties while the copper would be the least so.
The bronze was supposed to fall somewhere between the other two.
To the extent that is true, who knows ?
Gretsch has discontinued offering the copper shell because (I've heard) of a supplier problem.

I also have a 5.5x14 Sakae brass and the copper is less sharp (I think I know what you mean). I think the copper definitely has a warmer overall character. For my money it's right up there as far as cut and volume goes.
I put a PS3 on it to cut some overtones, other than that no muffling. It's a cannon.
