Played my first open air gig in the foothills of N. California over the weekend. The location and weather was perfect to finish out the summer on the last day of August.
Four bands shared a Yamaha Stage Custom perched on a 3 foot riser.
Used my K Custom Dark 14 hats, 16, 18 crash, K Custom 20 Dry ride, 5x14 Ludwig Black Beauty and a DW9000 single pedal.
10,000 watt FOH (front of house) PA set up:
Out - in the moutain - standing!
Signature here
nothing greater feeling than a big open concert.
We played in the upper part of Wisconsin in this beautiful hilly theater and it was just epic sounding.
Outdoor gigs are great......if you have overhead cover.
Nice! But that metal roof had to be a nightmare for stage acoustics, no?
Yes, the stage was plagued by feedback at the 20-100 hertz level that would build up into a loud rumble like a slow moving freight train passing by. To make matters worse, I lost my in ear monitor feed when one half of the stage lost power right before we went on. Power was restored quickly but my monitors never came back as we played a abbreviated set due to the delay. I had to grin and bear it but enjoyed playing.
