1st) I don't use the word great anymore because it gets thrown around so much that it ceases to have relevant meaning. When I look back over 62 years of playing and having been lucky enough to have seen a lot of the drummers that were still playing in the '60's and '70's and a few that were still banging away in the'80's. The last truly "great" drummers that passed were Shawn and Louie and Joe. The epitome of "truly great" drummers died 32 years ago, and that was Buddy.
On to your question. Literally all of the drummers playing or having played in the last 40+ years are overrated, but, if I had to pick 1, it would be Ringo. He's considered great because of the beatles (who were not great) who went from "I Want To Hold Your Hand" to "I Am The Walrus". You become a walrus when you spend too much time in the mushroom patch.
Probably not what you had in mind, but that's my pick.
