Default 24” bass drum for small kid ?

My nephew is about 5-6” tall and wants a 24” bass drum. Dumb question, is he too short for a 24 inch when you factor in the height of the rack toms? I thought i read that on one of the forums.

    He wants what he wants.
    If he’s a beginner, I’d say I don’t think so.
A Ludwig Breakbeats kit would be more like it. IMO

A 24” doesnt make a difference when you factor in his height? In other words, its not harder to reach the racks on a 24 opposed to a 22?

Sure it does but one can offset the tom/toms on separate stands to make it work if needed. OR
You could do a Stanton Moore type setup with the big bass drum off to the side.

    Play the SONG......not the DRUMS!!!

    I used a vintage Slingerland kit once a week for years, it was a 13", 16", 18", 24" setup. I'm 5' 6". (I'm a small kid disguised as a sixty year old man.) lol.

    It was never an issue.
