I do freelance work. Several of my accounts have frozen.
So obviously the market and business is down greatly with everything happening.
I work in sales for a Treating Lumber facility whole saler. My actual title is Product Specialist for a composite decking and railing brand called Deckorators.
With sales down so hard and customers not orders, just trying to survive our plant laid off over 30 people so far.
To keep my job my boss gave me two options, unemployment or leave my comfy desk and office and help out in the yard.
So 3 of us 4 sales people are now working out in the yard doing whatever tasks we can to help out.
My 5 year is next week and I've never been so worried about making it to 5 years as i am now.
I'm also counting my blessing that I even still have a job as I know so many don't, but it's scary cause I could be next very easily at this point.
I'm also very fortunate as I just talked to the bank and my insurance about buying a new car... glad I didn't pull that trigger!
Anyone else having troubles?
I do freelance work. Several of my accounts have frozen.
For those of us who've been in the work force for 40+ years, I can only speak for myself but losing a job and having to find another just sucks. Especially when you are financially committed to a home, one or more vehicles and whatever else you are in to, it's a very scary proposition. It doesn't take long to become desperate if you don't have a fat bank account back up.
My wife has owned her hair salon/spa since we've been married. I've survived several job "adjustments" but my wife's business is shuttered until who knows when. She's really getting educated as to what we have to go through when employment tanks. She's not adjusting well. lol. Me, for once, this hasn't effected me yet. I'm still working every day and now I can work from home if the need occurs.
However, Zack, I made the mistake of getting a new vehicle the last day of Feb. GRRRRRRRRR. I now have a vehicle payment, larger than life car tags and an eye opening new insurance bill. I was doing so well with my paid for 2005 Honda Pilot. Alas, it was getting tired and I didn't want to spend a couple thousand to keep it going. But I could have.....sigh.....

Bummer I would have bought the Pilot! I want to upgrade the CRV but obviously I won't do anything until this all clears out Mark. I almost bought a new Charger a couple of weeks ago so I'm sure glad I didn't.
Thank you, sir. I had held off for several years and then one day....there it sat. Something I actually liked. hahhahaha
I am still working so the budget is intact so far. If I continue working, I should come out the other side like it never happened....financially. Can't say the same for my wife and her salon.
I really want to say my angel is working overtime and I'm so thankful.
P.S. To drummer and admin and drum bum.....I sure enjoyed wearing my heavy duty pull over hooded sweatshirt. It kept me warm all winter. Much appreciation, gang!!!!!

I’m sad for all here and realize it’s happening everywhere.
Hang in there guys. This WILL get better...I have no doubt.
The economy won’t come screaming back, but I’m certain that if we can get through the next several weeks, things will begin to improve. I honestly think we’ll be surprised at how quickly it will improve. But....we need to get this economy rolled out soon!

I read that potentially 42% of small businesses will not return after this. That is sad, and totally unwarranted IMHO.
Very good video. I had no idea.

I want to say something but I’m dumbfounded.
Received economic relief stimulus.
How about that fireman who received 8 million by accident? Wow
I’ve also learned that the stimulus is a non-taxable government aid.
While I agree with that (for the most part). There are so many arguments to be made against it with a variety of reasons........................................... .................................................. ......?????
I like it here on DC, so that will remain untouched by me.

So far I have been asked to take 2 weeks of furlough (1 in March, 1 this week). This was supposed to be reflected in a 50% reduction in my paycheck for each pay period, but my check that was deposited yesterday that included the first furlough week was only 25% what I normally make. I have contacted my boss and HR but haven't got an answer from HR yet (Boss did ask them to please resolve). Also my state unemployment hasn't let me file for my second week of furlough for some reason. Needless to say these issues are causing a stressful situation to become more so. I am trying to stay calm and not show any anger/stress as I have 2 kids and the wife here with me and don't want to add to their anxiety levels. I am hopeful that we can all get through this with as little pain as possible, but I know there is going to be more pain coming before it ends. Hang in there guys.

My older brother got sent home from work on a 14 day self quarantine. All because one of his coworkers was POSSIBLY exposed. So, he called his wife, who works at a daycare and told her. She decided in order to protect her own job and the kids at work that she didn’t want him even coming in their house. So......he parked his 5th wheel camper next to his storage facility, ran electric, Satellite TV, Internet, water and sewer lines, and is now living by himself in his camper. He’s spending his days tinkering on his project cars and riding his motorcycle in the country. At night, he sits by himself (in peace and quiet), drinks beer and watches TV. When he’s hungry, his wife cooks and sets the food outside for him to pick up. She also lets their dog out so he has visitation rights. He said it’s the best 2 weeks he’s had in a long time, LOL.
