would a A zildjian or the K zildjain mater sound hi hats mix well with my 16" AAX's stage crash?

Generally, the only thing you would worry about is their range. Personally I've noticed that the K's have a really dark and crisp characteristic while the AAX's tend to explode on contact and are very bright. All you can do is test them out together and see how the mix sounds... If it's good then go for it, man.

I have a buddy that has all makes and types on his kit and they all work together well. I on the other hand seem to stay with a particular brand and style. Zildjian A customs. So I say to each there own. If it sounds good to you then go for it!

That's like asking if Nike shoes, and an American Eagle shirt would go together bro... it's not about the brands, all that matters is the sound. If it sounds good together, do it!

i think for the most part sabian and zildjian play well together. like i said in a different post, i thought the best sonic matched hi hats for my paragon ride were avedis quick beat

Keep in mind that the guy who owns Sabian is named Rober Zildjian, and the owners of Zildjian cymbals are his niece's. It's the same general "recipe" In fact one of the sabian lines (not sure which one) is identical in every way shape in form to the Zildjian K series... all but the logo anyway. Sabian retains the rights to the manufacturing processes, but isn't allowed to use the same names.

cool, thanks for the reply guys. I just didnt want one to outshine the other, or sound bad with one another. I have heard that zildjian play well with sabian anyways. i just wanted to make sure there wernt any exceptions.

    Default Hats size?

What would matter more would be the size of the hats you are using. With 16" AAX crashes, I would think you'd want 15" heavy hats to cut through. However, the real answer to your question is what sounds best to you with regards to your cymbals.

Just take the cymbals you are trying to match to the store and play them all together.

I'd say that A customs would sound better with aax cymbals than K customs would.

the only way to know is to try them out together
a mixture of dark and bright cymbals isnt always a bad thing
it can provide a bit more color to the playing
but just make sure they sound good to you man

Agreed. I regularly use a 10" sabian b8pro and 10" sabian aax splash along with an 8" Zildjian K splash and a 12" Zildjian A splash. The 12" A splash sounds so different from the Sabians but they all really sing well together live.
