I saw Max Roach when he was with Abbey Lincoln and when he played with Miles Davis. 1 of them was at the old Birdland before it shut down.
I still have my totally worn out LP, Rich vs Roach.
Max Roach played with Coleman Hawkins, Dizzy Gillespie, Charlie Parker, Miles Davis, Duke Ellington, Thelonious Monk, Abbey Lincoln, Dinah Washington, Charles Mingus, Billy Eckstine, Stan Getz, Sonny Rollins, Eric Dolphy, and Booker Little, and many others. Tony Williams was primarily inspired by him, Art Blakey and Philly Joe Jones. He is one of the great legends of drumming and is one of my major influences.

That's a great cd.
This is a song called "Sweet Clifford". A better understanding of Max's playing with a drum solo at the end.
