Default It's happening! My Dream Kit arrives in 36 Hours

I have wanted one since the late 80's I hadn't seen one in person since the late 90's. This one crossed my path and fortunately I was in a position to jump on it.

It arrives in 36 hours, and I am pumped!

Spent the last 4 days retooling the rack set-up, and a new BD head. I'm working 400 miles from my Home/Band/Drum Cave, so this has been somewhat of a distraction, and a logistical challenge, until the gigs start up again.
Reduced the visual impact and the weight of the rack by losing 6 feet of 1.5" tubing, 5 rack clamps, and reducing the cross tube to 3/4".
I am not a fan of 4"+ ports on a bass drum head, plus I run an internal mic setup, so I nixed the old one and got a new head and cut 6 small peripheral ports. Thanks to a vinyl cutter we have in the office, I have new logos/graphics on the bass head as well.

That’s a nice looking kit. I’m surprised nobody has mentioned the copper hardware on the Ludwig snare.

Did you get the hardware platted, or was that something Ludwig made?

Modern COB 402 that I put copper plated hardware on. The hardware was sourced from a drum builder who had it plated for a project that fell through.

Long story, short version. Home is Ohio. Offered dream job by friend of 20 years, in No. Virginia. Work/live in his large and heavily decked out bachelor pad of a house. No schedule, no expenses. Still have house and band in Ohio. Just commute when I have to.

Very nice kit, I've never played an Ayotte before, I'd love to take it for a test drive!

Worth the bump up. Wow!! The thin cross bar is hidden well below the toms! The kit is stunning!

Glad your cymbals are more logically located now. Those are beautiful drums! Not to go too off topic but I've been thinking of a remote, or cable hi hat so I can move my 8" tom down to about 9:30/10:00 o'clock off my snare without tube interference. How does that feel? Is it very different than a solid hi hat?

Daang that is gorgeous. I think the rack is taking a lot away from it visually but to each his own. Great find congrats!

Here is snare I would put with it : )
    Ludwig Classic Maple 22x16,10x8,12x9,16x16
    7" Moon Gel Practice Pad
    Sabian HHX Legacy

Decide whether this is love for the craft or simply an ego thing

http://www.redskymary.com/ NOT MY BAND, JUST A GREAT LOCAL BAND WHO SHOULD BE SOOO MUCH BIGGER IMO

Been using it for 7 years. It did require a bit of getting used to, but i switch between regular and remote frequently with my other kits and don't even notice any more.

Absolute stunners. Those are going to look amazing under stage lights. Love the lugs and hoops.
    Proudly playing:
    Doc Sweeney Drums
    A bunch of snares
    A bunch of cymbals

    Off-Set double pedals

I think I love to play the drums simply because you get to hit 'em!!!
