Roy Milton was what you call an "in the pocket drummer" and was also a vocalist. He had his own band called "the Solid Senders". They could play hard or soft depending on the situation. He had his own record label, "juke Box", and he release his first hit single on it in the 1940s, that being "Milton's Boogie". He was able, because of the hit, to go on and form "Specialty Rcords". He had 19 top ten R&B hits in total. HIs biggest hit was "Hop, Skip and Jump". He also played with Johnny Otis. and also made albums with Kent Records.
