Clyde Stubblefield is best known for his work with James Brown. He played with James Brown from 1965 to 1970. After that he had his own band: The Clyde Stubblefield Band.

His ability to take simple 4/4 rhythms and play them in different syncopations laid the foundation for funk and R&B and has been copied by everyone (almost). He won numerous awards for his drumming, is in the Rock n' Roll hall of fame, and is considered "the man" when it comes to funk and R&B drumming. He definitly had a big influence on my drumming.

This is Clyde playing "Cold Sweat" with James Brown (the king of soul).
