12/14/1962, my 16th birthday.
This was taken about 3 months after I was removed (thrown out) of High School.
I cut so many classes that most of the teacher's I should have had didn't even know I was supposed to be in their class.
Anyway, I walking down the 2nd floor of the Annex building with my leather jacket with the gang sign on the back (the jackets were actually banned, like I cared) a black shirt, black pants, a switchblade in my boot, sunglasses on my head, and a cigarette hanging out of my mouth. Somebody grabbed me from behind and I turned and pushed him up against the wall. The person I pushed was the principle of the Annex building. So much for school.
So went my years as a Juvenile Delinquent.
The man in the back is my uncle who took 6 machine gun bullets on Tarawa. He was in the hospital for a year, sent back to the states for training for an upcoming invasion (he was a Marine Captain) and went in on the 1st wave on Iwo Jima and never even got a scratch.
