Randy Z (Randy Zehringer) , the brother of Rick Derringer (Rhichard Zehringer) were the founders of "the McCoys" (the name taken from the B side of "Walk Don't Run" by the Ventures called "The McCoy". Randy played drums and his brother of course is the famous Rick Derringer of guitar. The McCoys had a few hits with "Hang On Sloopy" their biggest.

The McCoys formed in 1962 and had "Hang On Sloopy" in 1965. They both played and recorded with the Johnny Winter's band and made two albums and later played with Edgar Winters.
