    Sam Lay is an American drummer and vocalist who has been playing since the 1950s and is in "the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame" and "the Blues Hall of Fame" and "the Jazz Hall of Fame". He started playing as a member of the "Original thunderbirds and then played with Little Walter.

    He also recorded and played with Willie Dixon, Howlin' Wolf, Eddie Taylor, John Lee Hooker, Junior Wells, Bo diddley, Magic Sam, Jimmy Rigers, Earl Hooker, and Muddy Waters (a who's who of bluesmen).

    He later joined the Paul Butterfield Blues Band and also played and recorded with Bob Dylan. He also recorded for "Chess" records and is on many other blues recordings and also played many blues festivals in the United States and Europe.

    In 1969 he released his own blues album "Sam Lay in Bluesland" which was produce by Mike Bloomfield and Nick Gavenites.

    In 2000 he was awarded a "legends and Heroes Award" of significant musical contributions and featured in the PBS documentary "History of the Blues" (seven episodes).

    This is Sam still hanging in there playing at the South Bend Blues and Rib Fest 2012 playing "Got my Mojo Workin'". Now, he is a drumming legend for sure.
