    Freddie Waits was an American jazz drummer. In the 1980s he became a music faculty member of Rutgers University.

    He played and recorded with M'Boom, Roy Ayers, Kenny Barron, Gary Bartz, Willie Bobo, Ray Bryant, Kenny Burrell, Donald Byrd, Stanley Cowell, Richard Davis, Teddy Edwards, Ricky Ford, Bunky Green, Tiny Grimes, Gene Harris, Andrew Hill, Buck Hill, Johnny Hodges, Richard "Groove" Holmes, Freddie Hubbard, Willis Jackson, Clifford Jordan, Hubert Laws, Junior Mance, Charles McPherson, Mulgrew Miller and Reggie Workman
    Trio, James Moody, Lee Morgan, Don Patterson, Pharoah Sanders, Shirley Scott, Buddy Terry, McCoy Tyner, Joe Zawinul, Curtis Fuller, and others.
