, nickname "Mr. Time" was an American drummer (1913-1986) and played percussion for the Portland (Maine) Sympony Orchestra when he was 13.

He started becoming well known playing with and recording with Artie Shaw, Genn Miller, Tommy Dorsey, Charlie Barnet, Johnny Long, and Woody Herman.

After the army he played with Don Byas, John Kirby, Raymond Scott, Jimmy Dorsey, Ben Webster, the Casa Loma Orchestra, Bob Chester's big band ensemble, Eddie Condon, Bobby Hackett, Pee Wee Erwin, Yank Lawson Ralph Sutton, Billy Betterfield, Bob Crosby, Wild Bill Davison, the Dukes of Dixieland, Peanuts Hucko, Joe Venuti, The Kings of Jazz, Bud Freeman, Don Ewell, the World's Greatest Jazz Band, Jimmy McPartland, Dick Cary And The Dixieland Doodlers, and others.
