I cant imagine John Bonham never practiced. I dont care how good he was, he had to of practiced. How did he come up with all those cool grooves and play them flawlessly?
    How about those triplets?

Buddy never practiced. He told me that he played so much with his band that that was his practice.

I had access to our rehearsal studio 24/7 and if I went and "practiced" 5x in the almost 33 years we had it, that would be a lot.

Some people don't require a lot of practice and some do.

There's probably some truth to it. He probably came up with a lot of stuff while on the road playing shows.

Some people will buy the Zep set and that's fine but they need to know (if they don't) that it's impossible to copy an individuals style and feel.

Here’s what I think. Every time you play, it’s practice. It’s obvious John Bonham has listened to other drummers, practiced and was influenced by them. He’s shown it in some of his solos in fact. He’s played bits of “The Drum Also Waltzes” by Max Roach and did his improvised version after. He also claimed he liked how Carmine Appice did a triplet type riff utilizing the bass drum. Also the intro of “Rock n Roll” by Led Zeppelin sounds a lot like Little Richards “ Keep a Knockin”.

I also think Bonham was influenced by Joe Morello. Look at Joe Morello’s solo with his hands, i think thats where Bonham got that from.
