    Jimmy Carl Black (James Carl Inkanish, Jr. - 1938-2008), an American drummer, was most noted for playing for "The Mothers of Invention". He was part indian and used to say "Hi boys and girls, I'm Jimmy Carl Black, and I'm the indian of the group."

    He was in Frank Zappa's "2oo Motels", and also played with Captain Beefheart & the Magic Band (stage name "Indian Ink". He recorded more than 20 albums under his own name, nine albums with "The Mothers of Invention", twelve albums with Frank Zappa (after the Mothers), and more than 35 other albums. He also played with severl bands such as the Grandmothers, Geronimo Black, Big Sonny & the Lo Boys, The Muffin Men, and several others.

    This is Jimmy playing "It Can't Happen Here" from the first "Mothers of Invention" album "Freak Out". All Zappa's songs are to say the least, "interesting".
