Spike Wells, an English jazz drummer born in Tumbridge Wells, Kent in January 1946 played and recorded with Anita O'Day, Tubby Hayes (big band and quartet), Peter King Quartet, Bobby Wellins Quartet and others. (most of these are British musicians)

He took lessons from Philly Joe Jones (who was playing with Miles Davis) and was highly influenced by Tony Williams (who later played with Miles).

This is Spike playing "Grits, Beans and Greens" with the Tubby Hayes Quartet (Tubby Hayes - Tenor Sax , Mke Pyne - Piano, and Ron Mathewson - Bass).
