Scott "Rock Action" Asheton (1949-2014) was born in Washington DC but moved to Ann Arbor, Michigan when he was 14. He cofounded "The Stooges" with his brother Ron Asheton (guitar), Iggy Pop (vocals), and Dave Alexander (bass). The Stooges strongly influenced punk-rock to come. The band wasn't doing much until Iggy Pop was motivated to move forward with the band after seeing "the Doors". They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2010.

His drumming was a prototype for future "punk" bands. The Stooges made two albums (the Stooges, Fun House) before member changes. The band broke up and reformed several times.

Scott also played and recorded with Sonic's Rendevous Band, Scott Morgan Band, Scott's Pirates, and Sonny Vincent.
