Paul Monroe played with "XYZ" from 1988 to 1991. XYZ was originally created in Lyon, France by Patt Fontaine and Terry Llous who were born there. They moved to Los Angeles and XYZ started out as the house band at "the Whisky A Go Go".

In 1989 Don Dokken produced them and recruited Paul to play drums with their first album "XYZ" release in 1989. Paul is on their first three albums.

This is Paul on "When I Find Love" from the "Hungry" album.

80's hair, that classic 80's sound, big drums!!... gotta love it! I used to live right down the road from the Whiskey A Go Go and visited many times. That and the Comedy Store, Tower Records, etc. Great memories!

One thing I like about Paul is his drum fills and also as you said that big sound he has. Those fills are nice. Tasteful is a good word, and I have to say not so simple as they sound.
