Milton "Milt" Holland (Milton Olshansky; 1917 – 2005) was born in Chicago, Illinois. drummer, He was one of the pioneers in the use of African, South American, and Indian percussion styles in jazz, pop and film music, and he traveled to those regions to collect instruments and learn styles of playing them.

By the age of twelve he was playing in "speakeasies" (this was during prohibition). He studied tabla at UCLA. He traveled through India in the 1960s and 1970s, then spent time in Africa studying tribal studying tribal rhythms was one of the first to introduce their instruments to western recording (this is after Art Blakey). He made an album called Roy Harte & Milt Holland - Perfect Percussion: The 44 Instruments Of Roy Harte And Milt Holland.
