    Samuel David Bailey (Dave Bailey) was born in Portsmouth, Virginia in 1926 and is a jazz drummer. He served in the U.S. Air Force in World War II.

    Another legendary drummer who had several albums as leader and played and recorded with other jazz legends such as George Braith, Bob Brookmeyer, Chris Conner, Lou Donaldson, Art Farmer, Curtis Fuller, Stan Getz, Grant Green, Tubby Hayes, Johnny Hodges, Lalo Schifrin (who also makes movie sountracks), Roger Kellaway, Lee Konitz, Norman Mapp, Howard McGhee, Marian McParland, Helen Merril, Gerry Mulligan (16 albums), Mark Murph, Andre Previn, Vi Redd, Charlie Rouse, Jimmy Scott, Bola Sete, Art Simmons, Jimmy Smith, Bill Taylor, Clark Terry (seven albums), Lucky Thompson, Ben Webster, Coleman Hawkins, and many others.

    This is David playing "Green With Envy" from the album "Green Street" with Grant Green (guitar) and Ben Tucker (bass).

    This is Dave "One Foot In The Gutter" (live) with "The Dave Bailey Sextet" with Clark Terry ( trumpet, fluegelhorn), Junior Cook (tenor sax), Curtis Fuller (trombone), Horace Parlan (piano), Peck Morrison (bass).
