Paul "Cookie" Thomas Cook was born in 1956 in Shepherd's Bush, London) and is an English drummer and member of the punk rock band "The Sex Pistols". Originally he formed a band called "The Strand" with Steve Jones which later became the Sex Pistols with Johnny Rotten (vocals), Glen Matlock (bass) who was replaced by Sid Vicious, and Steve Jones (guitar) .

The Sex Pistols formed in 1975 and initially lasted only two and a half years. They are regarded as one of the most groundbreaking acts in the history of popular music. They were responsible for initiating the punk movement in the United Kingdom and inspiring many later punk and alternative rock musicians. Their fashion and hairstyles had a significant influence on punk image, and they are associated with anarchism within music.

The Sex Pistols have been influential on grunge, indie, thrash metal and rap music. This particular lineup only made one album: "Never Mind the Bollocks, Here's the Sex Pistols (1977) which became a UK number one album and is a classic. And, they release four singles. You could write a book about them ane all their exploits and drugs, and the movie "the Great Rock n Roll Swindle" is about them.

They broke up after their concert in San Francisco in 1978. Paul and Steve later started a band called "The Professionals" which had legal and other problems and soon ended.

Later Paul played with "Man-Raze" which featured Phil Collen from "Def Leppard and release a double album called "Surreal" in 2008.

Next Paul joined "Vic Godard and Subway Sect", and has been playing with them and others since.

This is Paul playing "God Save the Queen" from their only album "Never Mind the Bollocks, Here's the Sex Pistols". This song attacked the British social conformity and deference to the Crown and was of course frowned upon by the establishment.

Legend. Met him a few times over the years. Lovely bloke. Last saw him Feb 2019 when The Professionals were supporting Ruts DC. Brilliant night.

He's a good solid drummer. Whether someone plays jazz, rock, country, etc. the most important thing is, as you say, to play exactly for the music.
