    Stan Levey ( Adolph Stanley Levey, 1926-2005) was an born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and was a jazz drummer. When he was 16 he played with Dizzy Gillespie (who was one of the creators of BeBop jaz) in 1942 in Philadelphia. After that, he went to New York City where he and Dizzy played on the famous "52nd street" with Charlie "bird" Parker and Oscar Pettiford (more orginators of BeBop).

    He later played with Stan Kenton (another giant of jazz) he moved to the West Coast i 1954 and joined Howard Rumsey and "the Lighthouse" All-Stars (the Lighthouse being a famous jazz club) and was a major influence on "West Coast" jazz

    Stan played on uncountable recordings with such legends as Chet Baker, Art Pepper, Buddy Bregman, Conte Candoli, Victor Feldman, Stan Getz, Dizzy Gillespie, Jimmy Giuffre, Herb Ellis, Stan Kenton (six albums), Oscar Peterson, Warne Marsh, Red Mitchell, Shorty Rogers, Sonny Stitt, Charlie Parker, Ella Fizgerald, Miles Davis, Stan Getz, Peggy Lee, Quincy Jones, Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole, and many others.
