Slim Jim Phantom (James McDonnell) waw born in Brookllyn, New York City in 1961. and is famous for being the drummer for the "Stray Cats". With Brian Setzer and Lee Rocker, they spearheaded the neo-rockabilly movement of the early 1980s.

He started playing the drums at the age of ten and studied jazz using Jim Chapin and Ted Reed's books. In the late 1970s he was playing in bands with his friend Lee Rocker (bass player for the Stray Cats). Later they got together with Brian Setzer and formed the Stray Cats.

Slim Jim had his own style of playing which was to stand and play with just a bass drum, snare drum, hi-hat, and crash cymbal.

He also played in The Swing Cats, Phantom, Rocker, & Slick, and with Jerry Lee Lewis. He also formed a band called "Col. Parker" with Gilby Clarke of "Guns N' Roses" and they released the album " Rock n Roll Music" in 2001.

He then went on to play in "Slim Jim's Phantom Trio", Dead Men Walking, The Head Cat, and is now playing in the band "Kat Men".
