    Pete York was born in 1942 in Yorkshire, England and is a rock drummer. He was one of the original members of the "Spencer Davis Group". He played with them from 1963 to 1969.

    After that, he formed "Hardin and York" (a power duo of keyboardist/vocalist Eddie Hardin and Pete) and made a few albums in the late '60s and early '70s. They were sort of a cross between Traffic and Procol Harum.

    In 1966 he played with Eric Clapton's "Powerhouse" (Eric Clapton, Jack Bruce, Steve Winwood, Pau Jones, and Ben Palmer).

    Then he played with "The Blueshounds and later fronted an all-star band called "Olympic Rock & Blues Circus" with many people playing on a changing basis (Jon Lord, Miller Anderson, Tony Sahton, Brian Auger, and many others and toured mostly in Germany.

    In 1987 he started a series of four "Superdumming" videos featuring drummers such as Ian Paice, Louie Bellson, Cozy Powell, Gerry Brown and Simon Phillips, Mark Brzezicki, Steve Ferrone, Trilok Gurtu, Jon Hiseman, Ian Paice, Herman Rarebell, Freddie Santiago, Ed Thigpen, Billy Cobham, Bill Bruford, Dave Mattacks, Zak Starkey, Nicko McBrain, Jon Lord and Eddie Hardin, Simon Phillips.

    He made thirteen albums with The Spencer Davis Group, nine albums with Hardin & York, and played and recorded with The Pete York Percussion Band, Olympic Rock & Blues, Open Road, Pete York's New York, Super Drumming Vol. 1 (1987), Super Drumming Vol. 2 (1989), Super Drumming Vol. 3 (1990), Super Drumming Vol. 4 (1990), String Time in New York, Superblues, Swinging Hollywood, Pete York's Blue Jive Five, The Pete York Percussion Band, Herman Rarebell/Pete York/Charly Antolini – Drum Legends, Pete York & Young Friends, Nazareth, Jon Lord, Eddie Playboy Taylor & The Blueshounds, Rick Sanders/Pete York/Steve Richardson, Pete York/"Wolfhound" Wolfgang Schmid/Lenny Mac Dowell, Brian Auger/Pete York/Colin Hodgkinson, The GoodTimes-All-Star-Band, Helge und Band, and others.
