Joe Ascione
Joe Ascione (1961-2016) was born in Brooklyn, New York and is a jazz drummer. He started playing at 2 years old. He got his first drum set when he was 4 years old and was playing professionally when he was 12. He was also a roadie for Buddy Rich and was influenced (besides Buddy) by Gene Krupa and Philly Joe Jones.
He played with many legends including Cab Calloway, Donald Fagen, Della Reese, David Grisman, George Coleman, Billy Mitchell, Flip Phillips, Al Hirt, Dr. John, Phoebe Snow, Jon Hendricks, Dick Hyman, Joey DeFrancesco, Frank Vignola, Herb Ellis and many others.

Love Joe's playing. Love this song and have played it many times. Also love that the drums are up in the mix. Man this guy is smooth! ... and that solo is off the chain!! If that wasn't everything, I love his drum sound, esp. the hi-hats. Sweet!
