Ramon Banda (not the heavy metal drummer) was born in Los Angeles, California (?-2019). He was an Amreican jazz drummer and legendary Latin jazz timbales master.

He and his brother (bassist) Tony Banda started playing with conga master Poncho Sanches and toured with him form many years. Later Ramon joined Jose Rizo's Band Mongorama (which was a tribute to Mongo Santamaria). He also played with Joey Defancesco and Bill Cunliffe. He made over 250 recordings which included several grammy winning albums.

Ramon played and recorde with Poncho Sanchez (twenty albums), Joe Strummer, Joey DeFrancesco (four albums), Henry "The Skipper" Franklin, Colleen McNabb, Dave Askren, Geoff Stradling, Papa John DeFrancesco, Bette Miler, Scott Martin, Bill Cunliffe, Juan Carlos Quintero, Carmen McRae, Atanley Clarke, Cal Tjader, Marilyn fernandez, al McKiboon, Banda Brothers, Phobia, Mort Weiss, Brent Lewis, Francisco Aguableea, Karen Hammack, Elliot Caine, Red and the Red Hots, Charly, Jerome Kern, Joey Altruda, Fred Ramirez, Gary Hoey, The Jazz Crusaders, Tierra, Taumbu International Ensemble, Marcos Loya, Woody Herman, The Delgado Brothers, Henry Franklin, Jose Rizo's Mongorama, Mort Wess, and many others.
