    Default Eddie "Bongo" Brown

    Eddie "Bongo" Brown (1932-1984) was born in Clarksdale, Mississippi and raised in Memphis, Tennessee. Eddie played congas, bongos, the gourd and claves for Motown Records' in-house Funk Brothers band. He played these instrument on many albums. One of his musical influences was Chano Pozo.

    He recorded and played with The Temptations, Smokey Robison & the Miracles, Gladys Knoght & the Pips, Marvin Gaye, Gloria Jones, Carly Simon, Thelma Houston, Billy Preston, Gloria Gaynor, Deniece Williams, Ben E. King, Candi Staton, Chuck Jackson, Wilson Pickett, Martha Reeves, Bob Seger, Stevie Wonder, Thelma Houston, Jerry Butler, B.B.
