Tommy Campbell was born in 1957 in Norristown, Pennsyvania and is a jazz drummer. Interestingly, Jimmy Smith was his uncle and Jimmy and Mickey Roker rehearsed at his house.

Tommy attended the Berklee where he majored in instrumental performance (1975-1979) and received the Distinguished Alumni Award in 1998. After graduating, he played with Dizzy Gillepie's big band until 1982.

Next, he joined John McLaughlin's group unitl 1984. Then he played with Sonny Rollins, Gary Burton, and others.

He has recorded with Ray Anderson, Clifford Jordan, David Murray, Sonny Rollins, and others.
