Default The Electric Flag - A Long Time Comin'

"A Long Time Comin'" is the second Electric Flag album (the first being the soundtrack to the movie "The Trip"). It's an album of blues/rock/r&b, and the Band was created by Michael Bloomfield (guitar).

Mike had been influenced by such blues artists as BB King, T-Bone Walker, Guitar Slim and others and also by soul music by Otis Redding, Steve Cropper, Booker T. & the M.B.'s, and other Stax recording artists. He was also inspired by country and gospel music and had been Paul Butterfield's lead guitar player.

He organized the band in 1967, and the members were Buddy Miles (drums) who had previously been with Wilson Pickett, Barry Goldberg (key) who had also been with Paul Butterfield, Harvey Brooks (bass) who had played and recorded with Bob Dylan, Nick Gravenites (vocals and rhythm guitar) who had previously played with Michael and Charlie Musselwhite, Peter Strazza (tenor sax), Herbie Rich (tenor and bari sax), and Marcus Doubleday (trumpet).

This is "Killing Floor" which was written by Howlin' Wolf (1964) and is considered one of the great classic Chicago electric blues songs. Led Zeppelin played it live a lot and it became the basis for their "The Lemon Song". Jimi Hendrix also covered it along with many other people including Skip James.
