Default David Lee Roth - Eat 'Em and Smile

David Lee Roth's " Eat 'Em and Smile" was his debut solo album after leaving Van Halen and was released in 1986.

It was hard to form a group that could live up to and produce the powerhouse of Van Halen, but David Lee Roth stepped up to the plate and hit a home run. With Billy Shehan (later Mr. Big, Niacin, and The Winery Dogs), Gregg Bissonette (many people), and Steve Vai (Steve Vai) he made a monster group that played jaw dropping music.

    This is "Shy Boy".

Wow, try as I might, I did not like it. No dislike, just not impressed. Sounded like a VH wanna be.

I'm sorry as I'm not trying to dis anyone or anything.

The album just didn't do anything for me.

    YMMV

Such a great band... Check out this version of Shyboy... Bissonette is a beast and gels great with Vai and Sheehan.

    I can understand this.
The talent goes through the roof but it’s not working for me either. When I hear David Lee Roth I picture VH.

Just like if I were to watch the cartoon “ Bob’s Burgers”, I can only picture “Archer”
    (Voice actor, Harry Jon Benjamin).

Yep, just like actors that get type cast and are stuck with them being known as that character forever.
Unless you were a Car 54, Where are You? fan, Fred Gwynne will forever be known as Herman Munster to me.
(by the way, how’s that ham radio thing going?...lol)

Ummm, yeah, about that. The band has taken priority and I'm just not much into studying. That's my story.
