Many of us went through that period of drum dreams. In my case it was sending for, or going to Hermie's Music in Scenectady, NY to get Ludwig, Rogers, and maybe Slingerland catalogs. I lived in those catalogs.
I bought a Supra in '65/'66 with lawnmowing/snow blowing money then an 18" Zildjian crash/ride. (from Hermie) I added two cardboard boxes and sat on the arm of the couch in the basement rec room.
My folks tried everything to get me into skiing or anything else but eventually accepted the inevitable and a 3 pc set of silver sparkle Ludwig Downbeats w. Speedking and HH appeared under the Xmas tree in '67 or so... (you guessed it... from Hermie) Bless their hearts!!!

Same with me. I begged and begged for drums but they thought I was just going through a phase. I banged on everything, ha-ha! They finally got me a kit a couple years later.
