    Default New floor tom

Broke down and ordered a second floor tom for my DW kit. I ordered a 18x16 to go along with the 16x14. It should be here Friday.

I’m considering going with the one up, two down set up on this kit. I have the 10, 12, 16 right now. Thinking of going 12, 16, 18.

I've used the 18X16 FT for over 40 years.
More difficult to tune, but once you get there, you will love it.

I have a DW Design kit to which I have added the 8" rack. I would love to get the 14" floor so I could go with a 1 up 2 down or a compact 4 piece or a full on 7 piece.

I've used 16"x16" and 18"x 16" since my 1st set of Ludwigs. I treat every drum the same when it comes to tuning.

Years ago, a drummer friend of mine had a set that was 24"x14", 13"x9", and 16"x16". He bought a 18"x 20" (I'm pretty sure it was 18"x 20" although it could have been 18"x18") and tuning that sucker to fit with his kit was a pain in the a$$.

It's weird, I have never had the desire to have a second floor tom. I guess I'm always thinking about having to lug it around. Plus, I just don't want another drum over there to hit. The 16" is enough for me. But I've gotta say, Zach's two massive floors on his new kit sound like thunder. I like them on his kit, lol. Otherwise, not a big fan.

I guess I have to be a bit different.
    Along with the 24 bass, my 1up, 2down set-up is 13/15/18.

I have a 1976 Ludwig 20"(not sure of the depth) floor that I just had restored. It's thunderous! I used to use it with my Slingerland kit, but I'm tempted to look for a Ludwig kick and rack of the same era and put together a cool large size kit.
