Arrow Charlie Watts out, Steve Jordan in / Rolling Stones tour 2021

I know everyone's heard about this by now... https://www.rollingstone.com/music/m...-tour-1207707/ ... but what are your feelings about Steve Jordan being the replacement? With no disrespect to Steve, If you could pick any drummer to sub for the Rolling Stones instead of him, who would it be?

I’m sure the Stones could have got just about whoever they wanted but I guess because Keith Richards and Jordan have worked together had a lot to do with it.

Good fit, he is a very humble guy. Love the way he down plays his own playing on soulman compared to the original version starting around 3:48

The Stones have never sought the most musical or technical approach.
They (to me) are more like the World's most famous and successful garage band.
In that context, there are thousands of drummers that could easily handle the job.
It comes down to simply deciding who they are most comfortable working with in the live show.

I've seen the Stones perform live twice:
    1972 and 1994.
In 72, the opening act was Stevie Wonder.
In 94, the opening act was Bryan Adams.
In both of these shows, the musicianship of the Stones had no chance of being as good as the opening acts.
In both of these shows, the Stones and the audience didn't care.

Great post and I would only add that you can take all that to the bank.
