Yes ,there was a slightly more defined bite on the 30's.
My concern would be is the snare bed wide enough to handle the 30's without an after rattle and the feel of a drum does change with more mass of a 30 plus strand snare.(rebound).
I can pretty much tell by feel as to what the snares are after a few hits.

yeah I once put on a 42 strand snare wire and it sounded awful... I then went back and cut out the snare bed wide enough to accommodate it and it made a HUGE difference.
