If anybody here is in the path of this thing stay as safe as you can. Best to get the hell out if possible.

Looks like it's going to get bad for Tampa. I bought my Yamaha kick drums from a guy down there. Don't think he's a member here though.

75 north is getting loaded with evacuees .. don't wait.. be safe.

It could be too late to evacuate. I heard one weatherman say to stay in place, that it would be too dangerous to try and flee now. The flood water is the biggest danger. That is where the most deaths occur.

We are going to get rain starting Thursday and ending (hopefully) on Monday. The last remnants of Ian are (supposedly) going to end in southern Virginia.

I watched on the news a woman walking her dog in about 2' of water. The dog (which was a big dog) was having a good time splashing around. I couldn't walk my dog in that without scuba gear.

I'm lucky that with each passing hour the forecast gets milder with less heavy rain and almost no wind. We will have light to medium rain through Sunday and then we go back to sunny and mid '70's.

If 1 looks at the map (with a magnifying glass) you can see where I'm at (42 miles due north of Charlotte, NC in a small city called Statesville) so I'm about 300+ miles inland. If you look all the way to the right, you will see where 2 of my daughters are at in Elizabeth City, and my youngest is in Virginia Beach, so they are all pretty close to the Atlantic. Where I'm at I don't have to have flood insurance because it would take a Noah size flood to get to me and if that were to happen flood insurance would be the least of my problems.

You can see Roanoke Rapids which is where I was stationed from mid-March '66 to end of August '67. Hit the flip and had a whole lot of fun (which depends on how 1 defines fun) to end of August '69. Discharged Nov. 17th, '69 just about a month before my 23rd birthday. USAF and US Army, a really fun way to spend a couple of years.

Now a word from our sponsor: Do you really want to play drums??? 5 minutes behind a set for the 1st time will show you exactly how uncoordinated you really are. Play the sax. At least you don't have to do anything with your feet unless walking and chewing gum at the same time present a problem for you. If that happens to be the case, play the radio.
